Dr. Victor Parsonnet, Board Chair Emeritus of New Jersey Symphony, passes away peacefully at 100 years old

New Jersey Symphony has been informed by the family of Dr. Victor Parsonnet that he passed away peacefully on December 23, 2024, at the age of 100. Dr. Parsonnet, who served as chairman of the New Jersey Symphony from 1991–2007 before being appointed Board Chair Emeritus in 2008, was an internationally acclaimed heart surgeon who practiced medicine for over 60 years.

Terry D. Loftis appointed as next President & CEO

New Jersey Symphony has announced Terry D. Loftis as the new President & CEO, beginning in early March. Loftis joins the New Jersey Symphony from his position as Chief Advancement and Revenue Officer of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra (DSO), where he oversaw the fundraising, marketing, special events and analytical research departments.

Joshua Bell announced as principal guest conductor

New Jersey Symphony has announced that beginning in the 2025–26 season, Joshua Bell will serve as the Symphony’s inaugural principal guest conductor through the 2028–29 season. Bell will appear on one program weekend each season. In addition, Bell and the Symphony are also exploring potential additional collaborations as part of the principal guest conductor role, which will be announced at a later date.

Symphony Center in Jersey City announcement

New Jersey Symphony announced that it will be expanding into Jersey City—with a new venue that will host New Jersey Symphony chamber music events and diversified programming, including non-classical events. The new Symphony Center will also become a permanent home for the Symphony, with offices and space for education programs, expanding on the education programs in Newark and throughout the State.
