
Training Ensemble Maestro Performance: Holmes

Conducted by Associate Conductor & Curriculum Specialist Terrence Thornhill, Wind Conductor Jonathan Villegas and Preparatory Strings Leader Gavin Davies, the Training Ensemble provides students from the Greater Newark area with the musical tools necessary for advancement into all levels of the New Jersey Symphony Youth Orchestra. Training Ensemble participants study instrument technique through sectionals and semi-private lessons. Their curriculum is rounded out with classes in rhythm, composition and improvisation. In 2024-25, students from the Greater Newark area are welcome to ride the free shuttle bus provided by the Symphony from Newark to Montclair State University, where rehearsals take place.
The Training Ensemble registration fee is $80 for the year. Students may also rent an instrument for $80 for the year. All families are eligible to apply for payment plans.
