WORLD PREMIERE OF CONE’S SYMPHONY
2014–15 Season
Concert Information
A unique journey of discovery awaits listeners as the NJSO presents a special event focusing on the legacy of composer Edward T. Cone and featuring the world premiere of his Symphony. On the first half of the concert, Music Director Jacques Lacombe and distinguished composer Steven Mackey will explore this work of the much-revered composer-teacher, illuminating the piece with excerpts and key listening points, as well as describing Cone’s impact on generations of composers that followed him. The symphony will be performed in its entirety on the second half.
This concert is the capstone of the NJSO’s New Jersey Roots Project, a five-year survey of works written by composers who lived in or were inspired by the Garden State. For more about this project, please visit www.njsymphony.org/njroots.
