Allison Loggins-Hull embraces her role as Resident Artistic Partner in her interview with NJArts.net
Allison Loggins-Hull’s career has taken her to performing alongside artists like Lizzo and Frank Ocean, playing in the string quartet Ethel and serving as the Daniel R. Lewis Composer Fellow for The Cleveland Orchestra, but she has wasted little time adapting to her new role as the Resident Artistic Partner of the New Jersey Symphony. Ahead of her community performance with the New Jersey Symphony Chamber Players in Newark on October 13, the Montclair-based musician and composer sat down with Courtney Smith of NJArts.net to discuss her new role and share her excitement about getting to collaborate with her home state orchestra.
“I’m really excited for the opportunity to find ways to collaborate with other arts and community organizations,” she says. “I think there’s a lot of potential in my own community of Montclair and in other areas of New Jersey as well, and I’m really curious to see what kind of new ideas we can dream up in a collaborative way ... There’s a lot of talented people in New Jersey — filmmakers, actors, jazz musicians, all kinds of creative people — so I can’t wait to see what we can explore together. It’s a really awesome opportunity because I get to do it at home!”
