Danny DeVito discusses his upcoming performance of Matilda in Concert with NJ.com
Danny DeVito will join the New Jersey Symphony on March 22 in New Brunswick to narrate Matilda in Concert, a film that he produced, directed and starred in alongside stars like Rhea Perlman and Mara Wilson. He recently sat down with Amy Kuperinsky of NJ.com to discuss the upcoming performance, and why he thinks it has made an impact on audiences over the years.
It’s a movie that just lived on, because I think it’s really important for everybody, adults and youngsters ... Younger people, they love it and they pass it on to their siblings and they give it to their cousins, and they talk about it ... Over the years, just all over the world, wherever you go, people say, ‘Hey, it’s Danny, we loved you in ‘Twins’ or we loved you in ‘Batman.’ Equal, if not more, especially young people come up to me and just really dig ‘Matilda.’ It’s an everlasting story that Roald Dahl wrote and I think that’s the reason it’s stayed and performed so well over the years.
