Free Paterson park celebration to feature NJSO quartet Aug 26

The Paterson Press and Paterson Times preview three days of festivities that will celebrate the 100-year anniversary of the National Park Service. On Friday, August 26, an NJSO quartet will give a free performance at the Centennial Art in the Park Showcase at Paterson Great Falls National Historical Park’s Overlook Park. The event begins at 4 pm and features music, poetry, theater and dance.

The quartet features NJSO violinists Héctor Falcón and Alexandra Gorokhovsky,  violist Michael Stewart and cellist Hyewon Kim. The ensemble will perform a Hispanic Roots program devoted to the music of some of Latin America’s most distinguished composers.

Paterson Times previews Friday’s lineup of performers:

Friday, is the Centennial Art in the Park Showcase beginning at 4 p.m. featuring the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra’s Hispanic Roots Quartet, Halls that Inspire Mural Unveiling, Impact Repertory Theater of Harlem, Inner City Ensemble Theater and Dance Company, Jaimeo Brown and Drummers, the Paterson Music Project, and the Passaic County Youth Poets.

The free performances will be at the Overlook Park. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own blankets and lawn chairs.

The park is located at 72 McBride Avenue in Paterson.
