New Jersey Symphony discusses Colton Conducting Fellowship with NJ Urban News
The New Jersey Symphony recently expanded its Colton Fellowship program to include a Conducting Fellowship as part of its initiative to promote diversity and inclusion in the orchestra, all thanks to a $1.5 million made by Judith and Stewart Colton that will allow the Symphony to continue the Fellowship for the next five years. Erin Lunsford Norton, Vice President of Artistic Planning for the New Jersey Symphony, spoke to NJ Urban News about the recent gift they received from the Coltons to continue the initiative, along with the process of adding the Conducting Fellowship to the program.
When we went back to the Coltons to talk about renewing the funding, we wanted to kind of add this conductor opportunity into it, and we’re so thrilled they saw the same opportunity we did ... This ability to bring young conductors into the fold, give them the support and the experience they need to forge a career path forward.
