The New Jersey Symphony recently announced its 2023–24 season, with a major emphasis for the upcoming season being placed on putting a spotlight on the music and voices of American composers. Music Director Xian Zhang spoke with NJArts.net’s Jay Lustig to discuss this approach and why it is important to the Symphony.
It’s very meaningful as an American orchestra to frame our season around American voices highlighting our musical identity. We are proud that our commitment to diversity and inclusion spotlights many distinct performers, conductors, artists and composers with which we’re so privileged to work.
