New Jersey Symphony musicians shine in the spotlight with elegant solo performances
The stars of the New Jersey Symphony took the stage as Assistant Principal Cellist Nayoung Baek, Principal Horn Chris Komer and Principal Trumpet Garth Greenup joined Music Director Xian Zhang and their fellow musicians to deliver the world premiere of Symphony violinist Darryl Kubian’s The Well of Urðr, while Concertmaster Eric Wyrick and Principal Bass Ha Young Jung performed a duet of Bottesini’s Gran Duo Concertante. NJ Advance Media gave compliments to the musicians of the Symphony for their solo turns, especially with the premiere of their fellow violinist’s newest commission.
... “The Well of Urðr” recalled early 20th-century symphonic poems of Arnold Bax and Ottorino Respighi—elegant, reflective pieces that showcase orchestral color.
