NJ State Council on the Arts awards grants

The New Jersey State Council on the Arts has announced its annual grants, awarding $15.7 million in grants to arts organizations across the state.

The Star-Ledger writes:

From dance companies to education initiatives and producers of literature, music, theater and visual art, creative organizations throughout the state received a total of more than $15.7 million in grants from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts — nearly $100,000 more than was awarded last year.

"The funds awarded today will serve as a catalyst for the economic growth and creative vitality of communities statewide," said Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno, who also serves as Secretary of State, in a statement.

"The cultural assets in every region help shape New Jersey as a unique tourist destination and a desirable place to live, work, do business and raise a family. The arts industry is critical to New Jersey's future and Governor Christie and I remain committed to maintaining New Jersey's place as a national leader in support for the arts."
