During the month of April, the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra partnered with the Community FoodBank of New Jersey to collect non-perishable food items at concerts throughout the state. Over the course of 11 performances, concertgoers donated 1,167 pounds of food to help feed the hungry in the Garden State. As Tristan Wallack from the Community FoodBank explains: “It’s [an] especially impressive total for this time of year, as people tend to be more engaged in the fall. The food will go to good use.”
A huge “thank you” to all of the patrons, musicians, staff and board members who contributed to this annual event! Food donations will be accepted again at NJSO concerts in March 2014.
