Quartet to give free performance Aug 26
An NJSO quartet will give a free performance as part of the Centennial Art in the Park Showcase at Paterson Great Falls National Historical Park’s Overlook Park on Friday, August 26. The free event celebrates the National Park Service’s 100-year anniversary; it begins at 4 pm and features music, poetry, theater and dance.
The quartet features NJSO violinists Héctor Falcón and Alexandra Gorokhovsky, violist Michael Stewart and cellist Hyewon Kim. The ensemble will perform a Hispanic Roots program devoted to the music of some of Latin America’s most distinguished composers.
The park is located at 72 McBride Avenue in Paterson.
Through the REACH chamber music program, NJSO musicians performed at nearly 200 community events throughout the state during the 2015–16 season. On “throwback Thursday,” we look back at a highlight from the season—flutist Kathleen Nester and bassoonist Mark Timmerman performed Shakespearean-era chamber music at the State Theatre in New Brunswick to complement an NJSO performance from the 2016 “Sounds of Shakespeare” Winter Festival.
