Concert Coda

Encore Information

The encore performed by James Ehnes on Friday was the third movement of Bach’s Sonata No. 2. On Sunday he performed the third movement of Bach’s Sonata No. 3.

In the News

"Jacques Lacombe was in peak form, leading both monumental works masterfully. Beethoven flows through his veins, but he and NJSO virtually have Strauss in their genetic makeup."

From the Stage

XinZhao-spotlight.jpg“Not too many violinists can touch Beethoven’s violin concerto; if you don’t have real chops and pristine technique, it’s a piece that shows every flaw you have. [Guest soloist] James Ehnes was absolutely flawless. His performance was sheer beauty—we were cheering for encores [as much as the audience]!

“We (NJSO musicians) had a great time this weekend—we are thrilled every time we get to play with Ehnes. He is a magnificent artist and a real class act, and as we expected, he was spectacular. [Fellow NJSO violinists and I] were all thinking, ‘This is the way to play the violin.’”
