Press Reviews and Features
“Lukás Vondráček showed all the hallmarks of a piano powerhouse: the imposing sound, the authority as he blazed through breakneck runs and intricate passages, the sense of nothing held back.”

FROM THE STAGE
“This was a great concert. [Pianist Lukás Vondráček] is just amazing—he’s a real force of nature, and everyone [in the Orchestra] enjoyed [playing with] him and hearing a different [solo] encore from him every night. [Conductor Christoph König’s] accompaniment of the soloist was very involved; he was really anticipating, feeling and shaping [phrases] in the Orchestra really well, which made it all the more exciting. Schumann’s Fourth Symphony is like a nice old friend that you really want to hear and see, more of a comforting presence. It’s always a pleasure to play Kodály’s Dances of Galanta. It’s so exciting, and playing it on College Night was perfect—it felt like the Orchestra got to get wild.
There is a lot of excitement around College Night. There was a really nice feeling in the lobby, and I think all the students who were there [either performed or] had a friend who did, so everyone had a little bit at stake—in a good way. [NJSO Principal Clarinet Karl Herman] and I really enjoyed sitting down and playing with the [William Patterson University Clarinet Ensemble]. They all expressed appreciation for [the opportunity to perform].”
Andrew Lamy, clarinet.
