FROM THE STAGE
“This was my first time working with Hilary Hahn. I’ve been listening to her recording of Bach’s partitas for years, so I was definitely excited to perform with her live. Our concerts with her were all I hoped for and more. Her musical integrity, thoughtful interpretation, beautiful phrasing and masterful violin playing were awe-inspiring. I’ve played the Brahms Violin Concerto many times, and it is a piece that most string players grow up listening to, so playing that piece with a soloist who performs it on such a high level was truly rewarding. Of course’s [NJSO Principal Oboe Robert Ingliss’] gorgeous oboe playing in the second movement was also worthy of many accolades. All in all, it was an extraordinarily fulfilling experience; our audiences clearly felt the same way, as evidenced in the tumultuous applause at all four performances.”
