PRESS REVIEWS AND FEATURES

“As the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra’s 2012-13 season came to a close over the weekend, there were many reasons to look back with admiration.”

MUSICIAN INSIGHT

Francine Storck, Principal Second Violin

FrancineStorck-Coda.jpg“The Rite of Spring is exciting to play on so many different levels; one is the sheer number of different instruments and the fact that each one is given its own voice. Sometimes, a piece uses a lot of instruments but [ones that can get] lost in texture, but in this case, each one has a very specific voice. As a player in the Orchestra, I even associate those voices with the people who play them, so the piece becomes very rich in personalities. We [musicians] all come together to play all kinds of music, but there’s something about this piece, where each voice is so independent, that you really feel and experience the contribution of each member of this group. It makes the collaboration more personal—everybody’s voice is heard, and that makes it really fun.”
