FROM THE STAGE
“[Playing the full score to a The Wizard of Oz screening] was great fun, and it was wonderful for the audience. They were so enthusiastic—people were singing along and having a good time. [Seeing The Wizard of Oz on the big screen] made people reminisce about when they first saw the film in their lives.
“There were lots of children in the audience— and some adorable children dressed up in character in the front row! This was a wonderful opportunity for them to not only see a movie that’s a classic but also to hear an orchestra live.
“It was also educational for me; I wasn’t aware that some of the music in the film was classical—Mussorgsky’s ‘Night on Bald Mountain’ was in there towards the end (during the castle escape scene).”
