Star-Ledger: Beethoven concerts in week’s ‘Top 5’
The NJSO’s classical season-finale concerts featuring Beethoven’s Violin Concerto with guest soloist James Ehnes and Strauss’ Ein Heldenleben (A Hero’s Life) make The Star-Ledger’s list of the “Top 5 NJ shows this week.”
Performances take place at NJPAC in Newark on Friday, May 30, and Sunday, June 1, and at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank on Saturday, May 31.

Beethoven in Newark — Beethoven’s violin concerto closes out the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra’s season, played by soloist James Ehnes. Music director Jacques Lacombe also leads Strauss’ energetic, intricate “Ein Heldenleben” (“A Hero’s Life”) at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center on Friday and Sunday and at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank on Saturday, njsymphony.org
Heroes Night
Special guests including Newark Deputy Mayor Margarita Muñiz and Newark city historian Dr. Clement A. Price, Rutgers Board of Governors Distinguished Service Professor of History, join the NJSO for Heroes Night—a unique post-concert event on Friday, May 30, at NJPAC.
Muñiz and Price will share stories about heroes that inspire them to serve others in a session hosted by NJSO President & CEO James Roe. The special event is free to all ticketholders for the NJSO’s May 30 performance.
