Theater Mania previews ‘Casablanca’
Theater Mania writes:
Conductor Constantine Kitsopoulos will lead the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra in its live musical accompaniment to a screening of the classic 1942 film Casablanca. The performance is set to be held at the State Theatre in New Brunswick, NJ on February 10.
Casablanca, starring legendary film actors Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman, follows Rick Blaine, the proprietor of an upscale nightclub in Casablanca during World War II, who eventually is forced to choose between love and civic virtue. The film received eight Academy Award nominations, winning three, and is considered one of America's most iconic films.
In addition to his orchestral repertoire, conductor Kitsopoulos has long been involved in musical theater. He was the conductor and musical director of the Tony-nominated 2008 musical A Catered Affair, and served as conductor for the Tony-nominated Coram Boy as well as American Conservatory Theatre's production of Kurt Weill's Happy End.
