WWFM roundtable with Cone Institute composers
WWFM’s “A Tempo” shared a special behind-the-scenes look at the NJSO Edward T. Cone Composition Institute on its July 18 broadcast. Listen now.
Host Rachel Katz was on the scene at last week’s Institute as four emerging composers enjoyed an immersive experience with the NJSO that culminated in a live performance of their works on July 16 at the Richardson Auditorium in Princeton.
After observing a masterclass, orchestra rehearsal and feedback session with musicians, Katz sat down with the four Institute composers—Luke Carlson, Brendan Faegre, Shuying Li and Reinaldo Moya—for a roundtable discussion about the impact the Institute had on them and their compositions. After the Institute concert, she chatted with Institute Director Steven Mackey and guest composer JoAnn Falletta about the multifaceted experience the composers received.
